CLINICAL STAFF:

 Dr. Edward Lynam, MD 
• Licensed Doctor of Medicine – Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners
• Degrees: Doctor of Medicine Specializing in General and Child Psychiatry

Dr. Edward Lynam serves as the Medical Director of The Bridge Center.  His specialty in General and Child Psychiatry allows our clients access to a wide array of services, from substance abuse prevention to medically managed care.  Dr. Lynam’s experience and expertise has granted him the position of Consulting Psychiatrist with both the Washoe County Department of Social Services and the Washoe County Department of Juvenile Services. Dr. Lynam not only sees clients of The Bridge Center who have psychiatric care needs, but he also provides supervision and support to our clinical staff on an ongoing basis.

 
Dr. Arthur Brown, PhD MFT

Dr. Arthur “Art” Brown has over thirty years of professional experience as a family therapist clinician, as well as experience as a program administrator for outpatient, residential, and acute psychiatric settings.  His professional history includes extensive research and publication of his work with various adolescent psychiatric populations, juvenile sex offender populations and adult sex offender populations.  Dr. Brown has worked as a consultant at both national and local levels to develop standards of care and treatment for juvenile sex offenders.  He was also instrumental in the design and planning of the first private high-risk locked residential treatment programs for adolescent sex offenders in the United States to have received a Joint Commission Accreditation With Commendation.

James “JB” Balmut serves as the Clinical Director of The Bridge Center.  He has over 20 years of experience in private practice as a Marriage and Family Therapist in Northern Nevada. JB’s passion is in the design and implementation of experiential education programs, leadership workshops, and confidence courses for youth groups, private corporations, families and state agencies. In addition to designing treatment programs and services at The Bridge Center, JB provides weekly clinical supervision to our mental health and behavioral health counselors.

Steven Boyd has several years of experience in providing counseling in addictions for adolescent and adult populations. In addition to his background in addictions, Steven has provided programs and services that support and encourage parenting skills.  At The Bridge Center, Steven serves as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor for our adolescent clients engaged in the Truancy Reduction and Prevention Program. Steven is also pursuing a license in Marriage and Family Therapy, and will be seeing clients as a Student Intern under supervision.

Juanita Chapman serves as the Director of Mental Health Services at The Bridge Center. She has been instrumental in developing our family services track into a progressive and innovative program that integrates multiple methods of evidence-based therapeutic interventions.  She is certified in both Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), both of which can be used with children, adolescents, and adults to treat a wide range of mental health and behavioral health concerns.

 
Autumn Deal, BA CADCi

• Degree:  Bachelor of Arts, Psychology
Autumn Deal serves as the Director of Programming at The Bridge Center. She has extensive experience working with at-risk youth and their families in legal settings, educational institutions, and social services environments. With her additional background in program management for adults with physical and/or cognitive impairments, she is working with the City of Reno Parks, Recreation and Community Services to create a therapeutic after-school program for adolescents and transitional-age youth who have special physical, cognitive or behavioral needs.
 

Theodore Levatter, BA CADCi

• Degree:  Bachelor of Arts, Philosophy
Theodore “Ted” Levatter is involved in many of the programs at The Bridge Center, in addition to providing substance abuse counseling for adolescents. Currently, Ted is helping to coordinate our Truancy Reduction and Prevention Program (TRAPP) as it expands into nine Washoe County Schools this year.  His experience in management and organization will help the program as we anticipate serving over 1,000 TRAPP clients over the course of the 2008-2009 school year.

 
Corinne Taylor, MSW LSCW

Corinne Taylor provides therapeutic and support services to a wide range of clients at The Bridge Center. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, she can assist individuals and families make connections with resources in the community that address educational, socioeconomic, vocational, and direct service needs. She also provides clinical counseling services to adolescents, adults, and families in the areas of mental health, behavioral health, and substance abuse. Corinne has over six years of experience in assessing and treating youth in custody, facilitating family reunification, and providing case management services for various state and county agencies.

 
Jana Wellman, MSC CADCi

Jana Wellman brings much experience in working with youth and adults in the substance abuse field to The Bridge Center. With her background in providing services for Adult Drug Court, she is very familiar with the legal process involving substance-based offenses.  She is currently pursuing licensure in Marriage and Family Therapy, where she will be able to provide additional counseling services and expand her scope of practice.  Jana also facilitates several of our psycho-educational groups for youth, which includes Substance Abuse Awareness, Stages of Change, and Relapse Prevention. 

 
EDUCATIONAL STAFF:

Nicholl Johnson, BA
• State of Nevada License for Educational Personnel in Social Studies
• Degree:  Bachelor of Arts, Secondary Education with Emphasis in History
Nicholl Johnson serves as the Director of Educational Services at The Bridge Center. She has four years of  teaching experience with high school students in both traditional and alternative settings.  Nicholl is responsible for administering academic achievement tests, developing individualized education plans, providing educational support and tutoring, and designing innovative academic support programming for our clients. She works closely with Washoe County School District officials to establish a presence in the schools, and she is currently developing the opportunity for The Bridge Center to become a GED preparation and testing site.

Joe Enge, BA  MA eq                                                                                                                                  • State of Nevada License for Educational Personnel Secondary Social Studies and English  • Degree:  Bachelor of Arts, Political Science and History, graduate studies in Education and English.                                                                                                                                                         Joe Enge brings many years of teaching experience to the Educational Services department, and serves as a Carson City School Board member. In addition to his teaching experience, Joe served on the Standards, Curriculum and Achievement team for the State of Nevada Board of Education.  Joe is responsible for the administration of academic achievement tests, remedial tutoring, and homework assistance for our Truancy Reduction and Prevention Program clients. Joe is also very politically active, and he often works with the Legislative Consultant of The Bridge Center to develop strategies that will positively impact legislature and provide benefits to our client base.
